1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?

Sure! I’m PolarBearNSFW, I am an artist from Central Europe that’s been doing this since I was 18. I like food in a burrito format and having wine with friends while listening to Cuban Jazz.

2) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?

I’ve used traditional mediums (pencil and paper) very briefly once I started, to then shift almost immediately to digital painting. I’ve worked on Photoshop for over a decade. I moved to Krita because Adobe is a capitalist exploitative company, and I’ve been using that to both paint and animate for the past year.

Within the NSFW sphere, I’m inspired by 3 artists that go by maotthat, @ZZZillionaire and @kairunoburogu on Twitter, at the moment.

3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?

I’m not at all the kid that’s been drawing since the age of 3. I definitely had an eye for it, but didn’t work on it at all until I was 14.

Tickling is a kink, for me. Just reading the definition of it in the dictionary did a little something to me I couldn’t explain. Once I got my first laptop, I started exploring that a lot more.

4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?

Self insertion (any default-looking male character is, I’d say), public display, and generally combining anything sexual with tickling.

5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?

The relationship between ler and lee is a huge one and could be explored in a million different ways, that’s enough for a lifetime of content. I love giving ticklers as much importance as the lees sometimes. I find a hot tickler having a believable reaction to what’s happening to make the picture a lot hotter than making the lee cry and snot all the way to their chin.

6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real scenes?

Fantasy scenarios, obviously 🙂 Anything reality can’t offer, illustrations can. Even something like a picture of yourself wrapped up in vines…impossible in real life, but simple to act out in art.

7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?

Honestly, I don’t think people find it interesting per se, I just think they’re into it. I know maybe 1 person (online!) that has grown an interest, and I still believe the interest was simply latent in that case as well. People are born into it, or they aren’t.

8) What are your works of which you are most proud?

I’m happy with how this turned out 🙂

It’s not trivial to me, as I have an easy time losing interest in something I produce soon after I’m done producing it.

There’s a few others I like, that I would honestly love to show, but are exclusive, for now.

9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?

I’m working on my ability to draw the human body, draw it fast and draw it well. The industry I’d like to be part of at the moment is a bit stuck in the mud. Ideally I’d like to freelance as a visdev artist, character designer or background designer (or all the above!), while keeping my SubscribeStar page open, whether it’s at a reduced amount of content per month or not.

10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?

This could be an essay but I’ll try not to make one.

I think it will not. Illustrations of tickling have a tendency to be derivative already. I don’t think the community, save for very few artists, is producing anything original. AI makes more of the same, already bloated content and that’s a bit sad.

There’s also a curious fixation people have within this kink, a need to see/consume new content constantly. It’s an unhealthy need, but I somewhat understand where it’s coming from.

AI will only make that need bigger without satisfying it, because the prompts will only be as good as the most generic content that’s already available. AI will do the opposite of what people are so hungry for right now, the only way you’ll see new content is by following artists.
