Tickling Artists #86: Interview with TicklerOfSoles

1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?

Hi, my Deviant name is TicklerOfSoles, I have been an artist on DeviantArt for 17 years. My earlier couple of years was actually more concentrated on creating tickling fakes using photoshop type skills, while I was trying to learn the use of Poser to create art. I soon changed to using Daz3D and have never looked back. I do still create fakes from time to time, just because I can….!

2) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?

My tool of choice to create my images is Daz3D. I discovered (and still am) that there is a vast world of artists that create characters, scenes, whole worlds, that I was able to use to build my ideas. I’m not skilled enough to build these things from the ground up, so I’m forever grateful to those artists that do, allowing me to use them.

Choosing a favorite artist to select is difficult…. However an early inspiration was Yurihausen, as the fantasy aspect in their work inspired me quite a bit. A more recent artist I enjoy is Toermentor, who’s work is evolving to amazing creations.

3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?

I was not too bad at art from an early age, more drawing than painting. Pens and pencils. A typical young boy finding it amusing to draw boobs and naked ladies, and at a certain point feet. I think I found as I got older, that drawing what I dreamt up was easing a frustration of there not being any actual film/images (or a computer) of things that were easily accessible to me.

Knowing why tickling became a thing for me is vague if I’m honest. I have memories of girls I liked laughing when tickled, TV shows that had a brief tickle scene. I realized I liked feet, and that brought the two together I think.

4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?

I have always loved fantasy/scifi movies and books, so, in general, I do like to create fantasy tickle scenes, women being tickled by various creatures, beings or even machines.

I have evolved to prefer all types of the female form, but have a preference to a more curvaceous woman, especially larger breasted. Naked and more sexual tickling scenes seem to have become more popular and therefore more common for me to produce.

5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?

I try to create tickle scenes that show a helplessness of the ticklee, that they are unable to escape the tickling in whatever form it may be. The facial expression is important to me, from a look of surprise or fear for what is about to happen, but most importantly the laughter. From giggling to expressions of hysterical laughter, I think a viewer should be able to almost hear a picture if I have achieved the right facial expression.

6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real life?

I always, as I guess most do, watch old and new videos of tickle sessions. I like to be inspired as well as observe reactions and hear the laughter. However, I believe that the artists can create tickle scenes that video producers cannot. Maybe some could for a price I guess, and I’m sure things will change in the future, but an artist can literally put their, or anyone for that matter, ideas into a form of reality. Especially my favorite form of fantasy, or make tickle machines come to life that just don’t exist. Anything is possible with art.

7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?

Some fans of tickling have said how they see it as a safe and fun fetish they have. Some have been lucky enough to experience it in real life. I think an interest in tickle art allows them to view scenes and scenarios that they would love but know would never be possible in reality. I have found tickling in general seems to have become a much larger fetish over time and much more content is available in all formats (which I love). Tickle artists allow fans to have access to a fantasy of choice, something they could not find any other way. I have many requests/commissions from followers that wish to see a girlfriend, wife or female celebrity in various tickle situations. I understand the underlying factor is mostly always sexual, but that is just being human.

8) What are your works of which you are most proud?

I have to say my favorite works are my alien abduction series. They have proved to be the most popular, and the most fun to do. Tickling experiments and machines peaked an interest in a lot of my followers.

9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?

In terms of the future, I hope to improve my work, and hope I can continue to be inspired by the many other great artists out there, and have ideas that people enjoy. I have always thought of expanding to animation and moving scenes, but previous attempts have been terrible. So unless a programme appears that my lack of patience can handle, I guess it will never happen …

10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?

Ahhh, the Ai question ….. At the moment I have to say I’m 50/50 on it. I admit I have looked at the vast amounts that are being produced (so that in itself may not be a good thing). And some images have inspired me, and some I have found pretty good.

However, the sheer amount being churned out, tells me it has no real soul to it. No passion yet but just a need to create images. No real time and thought yet, like artists take to create just one image. But I do understand it is learning and therefore should improve.

I have enjoyed some images however that have used small amounts of Ai, that have improved an image. For instance, it has made something originally created by an artist more realistic. Or a mixture of Ai, photoshop, and original art all merged into one scene. This for me is showing that someone has had an idea, and used tools that they have, to create something original.

Time will tell. But I have not used it myself, and probably won’t. This doesn’t however mean that I won’t enjoy other artists’ work that do. We like what we like……
